Salta Prosecutors Sentence Man for Gender Violence and Charge Woman with Partner Murder

On May 7, a 25‑year‑old man in Salta was sentenced within 24 hours after the province began applying its new procedural code. He was convicted of aggravated gender‑based assault, threats and property damage, receiving six months of effective imprisonment and orders for addiction and psychological treatment.

A week later, a 46‑year‑old woman was formally charged with femicide in Villa Angelita, Salta, following the death of her 48‑year‑old partner from severe burns. The court granted preventive detention. Both cases highlight the rapid enforcement of gender‑based violence statutes under the newly adopted code.
