Salta province leads in child reparations under Argentina's Ley Brisa
A recent report shows that Salta is the second Argentine province with the highest rate of children receiving economic reparations under the national Ley Brisa, which compensates offspring of femicide victims. By February 2026, 69 children and adolescents in Salta were enrolled in the program, a rise from 23 beneficiaries recorded in July 2025. The increase may reflect better outreach or the processing of previously unregistered cases.
The data also reveal that in 35 % of femicides reported between 2021 and 2025, authorities lack information on whether the victims had children, highlighting gaps in victim documentation. Over the same period, Salta recorded at least 48 orphaned children from femicide cases, though this figure could be higher due to missing data.
