Salta unemployment rate reaches 4.3% in Q2 2026

In the second quarter of 2026, the unemployment rate in the Salta metropolitan area was 4.3%, according to data from INDEC’s Permanent Household Survey. Out of an estimated economically active population of 306,000, there were 293,000 employed individuals and 13,000 unemployed persons.

Additional labor metrics for Salta include an underemployment rate of 11.7%, representing those working fewer than 35 hours per week who desire more hours. Notably, 19.5% of employed individuals reported actively seeking a different job. This figure reflects ongoing pressure within the local labor market.

Compared to the Northwest Argentina (NOA) region, Salta’s unemployment rate of 4.3% is consistent with the regional average. The NOA region reported an activity rate of 45.7% and an employment rate of 43.7%.
