Saltillo authorities investigate human trafficking ring operating fake spa
The State Attorney General's Office (FGE) is investigating a human trafficking ring in Saltillo, Mexico, that operated under the guise of a massage spa. Authorities report that young women were recruited through social media with fraudulent job offers for massage therapy positions, only to be coerced into providing sexual services.
Victims reported being forced into these activities through threats against themselves and their families. One survivor, Naomi “N”, managed to escape and seek medical attention, which helped bring the operation to light. Investigations indicate that the establishment used catalogs of photographs to allow clients to select services, with prices ranging from 1,500 to 3,500 pesos.
During a recent raid, authorities seized replica firearms believed to have been used to intimidate the women. The FGE is currently searching for Hames “N”, a man from Monterrey identified as the alleged owner of the establishment. The investigation is being led by the Center for Justice and Empowerment for Women.
