Saltillo Mayor launches urban infrastructure and flood prevention works

Mayor Javier Díaz González has launched several municipal infrastructure and urban maintenance initiatives in Saltillo, Coahuila. Key projects include the installation of traffic lights at the intersection of Alameda Zaragoza and Museo del Desierto boulevards to improve mobility for approximately 22,000 daily vehicles, and the rehabilitation of Plaza Melocotón.

To mitigate flood risks, the Direction of Urban Development has conducted operations to demolish irregular constructions built over the natural beds of the Cortijo and San Lorenzo streams. These actions aim to prevent water flow obstruction during heavy rains. Additionally, the city is constructing the Puerta del Oriente Pluvial System to strengthen drainage infrastructure.

Environmental and maintenance efforts are also underway, including the 'Bosques Urbanos Lineales' reforestation program, which involves planting evergreen oaks along major thoroughfares. The municipal government has also intensified deep cleaning of sidewalks in the Historic Center using specialized machinery and has performed maintenance on green spaces in the Kiosco neighborhood.
