Communities launch various urban cleaning and reforestation initiatives

Various municipalities and community groups across Latin America and Spain are conducting initiatives to recover and maintain public spaces through cleaning, reforestation, and infrastructure improvements.

In Santa Fe, Argentina, over 100 volunteers from the Municipality and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints collected more than two tons of waste in the Bajo Oroño area to prepare for the South American Games. Similarly, the Bucaré Scout Group in Lincoln, Argentina, held a cleaning and awareness day at General San Martín Park.

In Colombia, a major inter-institutional operation in Bogotá recovered two kilometers of public space along Avenida Caracas, collecting ten tons of waste and removing informal settlements. In Venezuela, community efforts in Arauca focused on restoring a neighborhood park to improve security and lighting, while in Mérida, volunteers planted 245 ornamental plants in Albarregas Metropolitan Park.

Other regional efforts include the construction of an athletics track in Tarija, Bolivia, and preventive cleaning of drainage channels in La Laguna, Spain, to mitigate flood risks. In Mexico, Saltillo has implemented an urban reforestation program, inviting local businesses to participate in planting trees to improve urban quality of life.
