Saltillo launches urban cleaning and environmental protection initiatives

The Saltillo municipal government has launched several initiatives aimed at urban maintenance, environmental protection, and public cleanliness. As part of the “Aquí Andamos” program, coordinated brigades from the departments of Environment, Public Services, and Public Works have been deployed to the Loma Linda arroyo. These efforts include cleaning the waterway, removing debris, weeding, and repairing pavement to mitigate flood risks during the rainy season.

In addition to physical maintenance, the city is promoting civic responsibility through the “Tómala Cochino” campaign. Organized by the Municipal Institute of Youth, this campaign uses awareness activities in the historic center to discourage littering and provides a reporting line for illegal waste disposal, with potential fines reaching 55,000 pesos.

Furthermore, the Saltillo Neighbors Association has established a working relationship with municipal officials to address the deficit of green spaces. A technical meeting with the Municipal Institute of Planning (Implan) has been scheduled to review proposals for protecting green areas and regulating tree removal related to urban construction.
