Saltillo launches Municipal Arborization Plan 2025-2040

Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González has announced the development of the Municipal Arborization Plan 2025-2040, a long-term policy aimed at strengthening tree care and expanding green spaces in the city. Supported by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas, the initiative seeks to regulate urban forestry by defining appropriate species and establishing conservation guidelines.

A citizen workshop was held to gather proposals from specialists, civil society, universities, and government institutions to enrich the plan. Emmanuel Olache Valdés, Director of Environment and Sustainable Development, emphasized that the goal is not merely to plant more trees, but to ensure strategic placement, proper species selection, and long-term maintenance.

The plan aims to increase vegetation coverage, improve the local climate, and promote territorial equity. Alberto Salinas de las Fuentes, director of Implan Saltillo, noted that planting and maintenance efforts will be supported by a Field Capture and Monitoring System.
