Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz meets with sports promoter Nelson Vargas

Saltillo Mayor Javier Díaz González met with Mexican sports promoter and businessman Nelson Vargas Basáñez in Mexico City to discuss strategies for promoting sports and physical activity.

Díaz González highlighted the “Activa tu Parque” program in Saltillo, an initiative supported by Governor Manolo Jiménez Salinas and the private sector. The program has rehabilitated 20 public spaces through a joint investment of 46.3 million pesos, benefiting over 170,000 people.

During the meeting, the Mayor recognized Vargas’s career, specifically his former leadership at the National Commission for Physical Culture and Sport (CONADE) and his impact on developing generations of Mexican athletes, particularly in swimming.
