Saltillo, Mexico to Host 5K 'Unidos por la Seguridad' Race on Aug 23
The municipal government of Saltillo announced the third edition of the 5K "Unidos por la Seguridad" race, scheduled for Sunday, 23 August. Mayor Javier Díaz González and security chief César Iván Moreno Aguirre highlighted the event as a safe family activity, noting that Saltillo is the safest capital in Mexico thanks to coordinated efforts with Governor Manolo Jiménez and local security forces.
Commissioner Miguel Ángel Garza Félix said the race will involve police, the state prosecutor's office, the public security secretariat, the army, the National Guard, the navy and civilian participants, with an expected 1,500 runners. Early registration costs 150 pesos (until 17 August) and rises to 200 pesos thereafter, covering a shirt, medal, hydration and entry into prize draws. Prizes of 5,000, 3,000 and 1,000 pesos will be awarded to the top three finishers in both male and female categories, for police and public competitors alike.
