Saltillo plans new road infrastructure for Tren del Norte project
The railway crossing at Nazario Ortiz and Vito Alessio Robles in Saltillo requires a new road solution due to the construction of the Tren del Norte project. Víctor de la Rosa Molina, director of the Instituto Municipal de Movilidad Urbana Sostenible (IMMUS), stated that the current at-grade crossing will be confined as the passenger train project advances to separate rail and vehicular traffic.
The federal government is working on an infrastructure proposal to resolve the crossing. The municipality has participated in planning sessions, providing data on vehicle flow and mobility needs. A key focus for the city is the ability to make left turns from the industrial zone, specifically from the General Motors sector, toward Nazario Ortiz. Current alternatives being analyzed include additional maneuvers and U-turns to integrate into the new road solution.
