Saltillo security officials launch youth football tournament
The Commissioner of Security and Citizen Protection in Saltillo, Coahuila, will host the ‘Calle por Cancha’ football tournament in the southern sector of the city this coming Thursday. The program involves 40 local gangs and aims to reduce tensions between youth and law enforcement while building community trust.
Commissioner Miguel Ángel Garza Félix stated that the initiative is part of Mayor Javier Díaz González’s comprehensive security plan. In addition to the tournament, the administration is implementing preventive measures such as the ‘Infancia Segura’ program, addiction prevention talks in schools, and community engagement activities like ‘Cine con tu Policía’ and neighborhood meetings.
The event will take place at 7:00 p.m. at Parque Carlos R. González, with participants from several neighborhoods including Hacienda Narro, 23 de Noviembre, Álamo, Teresitas, Hidalgo, 26 de Marzo, Lucio Blanco, and Flores Magón. This follows previous matches held in the western and eastern sectors, with a grand final expected in the coming weeks.
