Saltillo to deploy anti-drone system amid residential surveillance concerns

Residents in Saltillo have reported concerns regarding drones flying over residential neighborhoods, raising questions about privacy and security. While drone use can be for recreational or professional purposes, the presence of unidentified devices near private homes has prompted calls for increased vigilance.

In response, Mayor Javier Díaz González announced that the city will soon implement an anti-drone system. This technology is intended to detect and neutralize aerial devices suspected of being operated by criminal groups. Although initially aimed at securing the southern borders of the municipality against organized crime, the Mayor stated the system will also be deployed in urban areas to enhance surveillance and protect citizens.

Additionally, the city is investing in the modernization of its C2 command center, which includes the installation of a video wall twice the size of the current one to improve emergency response capabilities. The local police department continues to use community communication channels, such as neighborhood meetings and WhatsApp groups, to monitor and address security reports.
