Salto and Chubut announce major infrastructure tenders

In Uruguay, the Salto Departmental Board has approved a request from the Intendencia to launch a public tender for the comprehensive management of waste. The project aims to restructure the collection and final disposal of domestic waste, potentially through a concession lasting up to 12 years. The plan includes closing the current municipal landfill and constructing or operating a new sanitary landfill. The move has faced opposition from the ADEOMS union and the Frente Amplio, who raised concerns regarding the privatization of essential services and the future of municipal workers.

In Argentina, the Chubut government has called for a public tender to construct a 77-kilometer high-voltage power line connecting Garayalde to Camarones. With an official budget of approximately 27.1 billion pesos, the project aims to integrate Camarones into the National Interconnected System, replacing current isolated diesel generation. The work includes the construction of 360 structures designed to resist marine environments, a 13.2 kV medium-voltage line, and several substations to provide electricity to rural residents and local infrastructure.
