Salto and Puno prepare for upcoming cultural and patriotic festivities

In Salto, Uruguay, the Departmental Patriotic Committee has opened registrations for institutions wishing to participate in the August 25th parade commemorating the Declaration of Independence. Public and private organizations, including civil and sports entities, can apply via email until August 19th to join the parade or place floral offerings.

In Puno, Peru, the Virgen de Cancharani contest scheduled for August 23rd will feature a new synthetic grass stage sponsored by a private company. Alexander Quispe Huaracha, president of the Regional Federation of Folklore and Culture of Puno, stated the upgrade aims to create a natural environment for the 31 competing groups. Despite infrastructure improvements, entry remains a symbolic five soles to ensure public access. Local authorities are also coordinating road maintenance to manage traffic during the festivities.
