Salvá Tu Piel campaign offers free skin cancer screenings in Argentina

The ‘Salvá Tu Piel’ (Save Your Skin) national health campaign is providing free dermatological screenings across Argentina to promote skin cancer awareness and early detection.

In San Miguel de Tucumán, La Roche-Posay is deploying mobile clinics at the intersection of Peatonal Muñecas and Mendoza on October 14 and 15. These mobile units, featuring three consultation rooms, will offer free mole examinations to residents and visitors between 9:00–12:30 and 16:30–20:00. The initiative is supported by the Municipality of San Miguel de Tucumán, the Argentine Society of Dermatology (SAD), the Argentine Association of Clinical Oncology (AAOC), the Argentine League Against Cancer (LALCEC), and the Cancer Foundation (FUCA).

In Morón, LALCEC Morón is participating in the campaign by offering weekly dermatological controls every Tuesday at its Sarmiento 509 headquarters. Residents are required to schedule appointments in advance via WhatsApp or telephone.

Health experts emphasize that early diagnosis is critical, noting that Argentina records over 1,600 new melanoma cases annually, a figure projected to rise by 50% by 2040. Medical professionals recommend annual dermatological visits, daily sunscreen use, and monitoring moles using the ABCDE method (Asymmetry, Border, Color, Diameter, and Evolution) to identify suspicious changes.
