Salvador announces new urban infrastructure and public works projects

The Salvador City Hall has initiated several urban development projects aimed at improving infrastructure and religious tourism in the city.

A bidding process has been opened for the construction of Arena Paripe in the Paripe neighborhood. The project, managed by the Superintendência de Obras Públicas do Salvador (SUCOP), has a maximum contract value of R$ 12.9 million. The electronic competition is scheduled for September 21, 2026, with the selection criteria based on the highest discount offered by participating companies.

Additionally, the municipal government has authorized the construction of the new Praça Santa Dulce at Largo de Roma, representing an estimated investment of R$ 27 million. Designed by the Fundação Mário Leal Ferreira (FMLF), the project includes an outdoor arena, an altar-stage for religious celebrations, and support structures for pilgrims such as restrooms, dining areas, and a museum space. The works are expected to take 12 months, with an inauguration planned for August 2027 to coincide with the Feast of Santa Dulce dos Pobres.
