Salvador B. Gautier Hospital inaugurates new hemodynamics unit

The National Health Service (SNS) has inaugurated a modern hemodynamics unit at the Salvador B. Gautier Hospital in Santo Domingo. The facility is equipped with a new angiograph valued at RD$90,824,600.

This expansion is part of the development of the first National Hemodynamics Network, an initiative aimed at increasing the availability of cardiovascular and neurovascular procedures, such as stent placement, within the public health system. The project seeks to ensure that vulnerable populations can access specialized medical technologies regardless of their economic status.

According to José Antonio Reyes Troncoso, head of the Hemodynamics Department, approximately 90% of the patients treated in this area are from low-income backgrounds. The SNS is also working in coordination with the National Health Insurance (SeNaSa) to establish appropriate remuneration for the interventional physicians performing these services.
