Brazil prioritizes early childhood through health and education initiatives

Various initiatives in Brazil are focusing on early childhood development, education, and health. The Ministry of Health has highlighted the importance of the first years of life, noting a significant improvement in child vaccination coverage. According to estimates from the World Health Organization, the number of children in Brazil who had not received any basic vaccine doses fell from 360,000 in 2023 to approximately 50,000 in 2025, an 86% reduction.

Local municipalities are implementing diverse programs to support children. In Atibaia, there has been a significant expansion of preschool and daycare availability, with a 75% reduction in the waiting list for daycare spots. Other regional efforts include environmental education projects in Ribeirão Pires and Salvador, where students engage with nature to promote ecological awareness. In Juazeiro do Norte, the 'Agosto Verde' campaign celebrated early childhood by involving children in civic activities and listening to their perspectives on city life.
