Salvador changes bus routes amid Largo da Madragoa reconstruction
Starting Monday, July 13, Salvador’s Secretária de Mobilidade will reroute several bus lines that serve the Cidade Baixa district while the Largo da Madragoa area undergoes a two‑phase reconstruction project. In the first phase (July 13 – August 2) the street will operate as a shared two‑way lane and the main boarding point will move temporarily to Rua Padre Ignácio de Azevedo. Bus routes to Largo do Papagaio will be diverted through Rua da Penha, Rua Léllis Piedade, Largo da Madragoa and Rua Visconde de Caravelas before returning to their regular paths.
The second phase (August 3 – 23) will restrict vehicle flow to the neighborhood‑center direction only, forcing the opposite‑direction buses to detour via Largo do Papagaio, Rua Travasso de Fora, Rua Antônio Muniz, Avenida Porto dos Mastros, Rua Porto dos Tainheiros and Largo da Ribeira before rejoining their normal itinerary. Throughout the works, transit agents and integration teams will monitor operations, guide drivers and inform passengers about the temporary routes and stops.
