Salvador Dalí exhibition opens at Milan's Palazzo Reale

Palazzo Reale in Milan has launched ‘Dalí and Fashion’, a major exhibition running from September 24, 2026, to January 31, 2027. Held during Milano Fashion Week, the showcase explores the deep connection between the surrealist master Salvador Dalí and the world of high couture.

The exhibition features over 200 works and documents, including paintings, drawings, photographs, jewelry, and garments. These items are sourced from the world’s three most significant Dalí collections: the Fundació Gala-Salvador Dalí, the Dalí Museum in Florida, and the Museo Nacional Centro de Arte Reina Sofía. The display also incorporates historical archives from iconic fashion houses such as Schiaparelli, Chanel, Dior, and Rabanne.

A central theme is Dalí’s view of fashion as a tool for identity construction and personal transformation. The exhibition highlights his historic collaborations, most notably with Elsa Schiaparelli, which blurred the lines between fine art and wearable design. The collection also examines how Dalí and his partner, Gala, used clothing and accessories to craft their public personas through photography and media.
