Salvador electric scooter service reaches 1 million trips

Shared electric scooter services in Salvador, Brazil, have reached a milestone of 1 million trips since operations began in January 2025. The service, provided by the company JET and regulated by the Municipal Mobility Secretariat (Semob), has grown to include over 180,000 registered users.

Initially concentrated along the city's coastline with 300 scooters, the operation has expanded to approximately 1,200 units. The service now covers various urban regions, including Centro, Campo Grande, Caminho das Árvores, Pituba, Ondina, Rio Vermelho, and Cidade Baixa, as well as coastal neighborhoods like Itapuã, Stella Maris, and Praia do Flamengo.

Mobility Secretary Pablo Souza stated that the milestone demonstrates the integration of electric scooters into the city's daily mobility routine. The operation is governed by Municipal Decree No. 40.301/2025, which was published in July 2025 to regulate the circulation of micromobility equipment.
