Salvador hosts diverse cultural and artistic initiatives

Salvador Project MURAL Goethe-Institut Pooja Dhingra Brazilian culture

Salvador is seeing a surge in cultural activities ranging from traditional music to contemporary urban art. The Feira de São Joaquim is being transformed into an open-air gallery through the fifth edition of Project MURAL. This initiative features interventions by 14 visual artists, including a planned megamural by Lee27 and Galvão, and will culminate in a free festival on November 13 and 14 featuring workshops and musical performances.

In another cultural initiative, the Goethe-Institut Salvador-Bahia is hosting the “Tecidos de Narrativos – Bordando Salvador” workshop series. Led by Indian artist Pooja Dhingra, these free sessions run through November 13 and use embroidery as a tool for exploring memory, territory, and social resistance across various locations in the city.

Additionally, the city’s traditional seresta music scene continues to persist. Despite changing musical trends, local venues still host romantic boleros and choros, maintaining a social space for long-time dancers and community members.
