Bahia hosts diverse cultural festivals and musical tributes

The state of Bahia is hosting a diverse array of cultural events throughout late August and September 2026, spanning music, cinema, and poetry.

The Sonora Bahia festival celebrates its 10th anniversary with a series of free shows dedicated to music composed by women. The circuit includes performances in Vale do Capão, Ilhéus, and Salvador, featuring approximately 32 musicians.

In the cinematic sphere, the first Festival de Cinema de Lençóis is highlighting productions from the Chapada Diamantina region. Additionally, the third edition of Cine SESI in Salvador will honor the Bando de Teatro Olodum, showcasing over 18 films and various workshops.

Musical celebrations include a poetic tribute to Mabel Veloso at the Academia de Letras da Bahia, Amelinha’s 50-year career retrospective in Salvador, and Alinne Rosa’s intimate audiovisual recording. Other notable events include the 'Música para os olhos' documentary showcase in Salvador and the second edition of 'Ensaios de Verão' in Ilhéus featuring Timbalada. Meanwhile, the Sesc MS Palco Giratório showcases performing arts from 11 Brazilian states.
