Salvador Illa and María Guardiola to meet in Mérida

Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat, and María Guardiola, President of the Junta de Extremadura, are scheduled to hold an institutional meeting in Mérida. The encounter takes place during Illa’s official visit to Extremadura for the Diada celebrations.

This meeting marks Illa’s first encounter with a regional president who governs in coalition with Vox. While the meeting is intended to foster territorial dialogue, spokesperson Sílvia Paneque noted that institutional respect does not preclude expressing “frontal disagreement” regarding certain policies or “hate speech.”
