Catalan President Salvador Illa and Spanish Transport Minister Óscar Puente met at the Palau de la Generalitat to discuss the transfer of the R1 Rodalies line to the Generalitat. The leaders reaffirmed their commitment to the transfer process, noting that the government and Renfe's Board of Directors are expected to approve a program contract next Tuesday. This contract will allow the Generalitat to manage the service until 2028 while preparations continue for its incorporation into a new mixed company.

Minister Puente acknowledged the current poor state of the Rodalies service and the frustration of passengers, stating, “We are not satisfied.” He noted that despite record investments, the results are not always visible to users. To improve resilience against climate incidents, 151 actions are currently underway, following 200 million euros in emergency works triggered by previous weather events and accidents.

While the transfer process is moving forward, Puente admitted that the upcoming elections on November 29 could potentially alter the established timeline. Additionally, both officials confirmed that new trains are expected to arrive during the first quarter of next year.
