Salvador Illa announces Diada celebrations in Extremadura

Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat, has announced that this year’s Diada celebrations will be held in Extremadura on September 16 and 17. This marks a shift in policy, as the government previously held such events in Madrid.

The initiative aims to highlight the connections between Catalonia and the Extremadura community, specifically recognizing the contributions of people from Extremadura who have settled in Catalonia over recent decades. Illa stated the goal is to emphasize shared bonds rather than differences, expressing a desire to progressively move these celebrations to various autonomous communities within the state.
