Salvador Illa discusses shared prosperity at European Bridges forum

The ‘European Bridges’ forum, organized by EL PERIÓDICO, Prensa Ibérica, and BeBarlet, convened approximately one hundred European officials, MEPs, and dignitaries in Brussels to discuss shared prosperity.

Salvador Illa, President of the Generalitat de Catalunya, emphasized that the European scale is vital for ensuring shared prosperity projects. He highlighted Catalonia's commitment to European construction and argued that Europe is at a critical juncture to defend its social model against the rise of the far right.

Economist Andreu Mas-Colell, president of the Barcelona Institute of Science and Technology, noted that Europe requires a productive economy to sustain its social model. He argued that this economy must be based on knowledge-associated productivity rather than low wages.
