Salvador Illa pledges to increase Catalan education spending to 6% of GDP

Catalan President Salvador Illa has announced a commitment to increase educational spending to 6% of the regional GDP. This move aims to address ongoing issues regarding precariousness and poor results in the Catalan education system, following concerns raised by PISA test scores.

To reach this target, the government plans to increase investment to approximately 20 billion euros, up from the current 4% of GDP. Illa intends to pursue this goal through a series of meetings with various political forces, including ERC and Junts per Catalunya, in an effort to establish a broad consensus for educational improvement.
