Salvador International Airport flights diverted after drone airspace invasion

An unauthorized drone entered the restricted airspace of Salvador International Airport on Monday afternoon, causing a temporary closure of the runway. The incident forced at least two Gol airline flights to be diverted to Aracaju Airport in Sergipe.

According to Gol, the diverted aircraft were scheduled to refuel in Aracaju before continuing to their original destination in Salvador. The airline stated that passengers received necessary assistance.

Vinci Airports, the terminal's administrator, reported that the situation was communicated by the Control Tower and that operations were subsequently normalized. While the airport administration confirmed the disruption was temporary, they did not specify the exact duration of the runway closure or the total number of flights affected. Details regarding the methods used to remove the drone from the airspace have not yet been released, and the Brazilian Air Force has not provided a formal statement on the matter.
