Salvador-Itaparica Bridge progress presented in Maragogipe

Government officials and the concessionaire held a workshop in São Roque do Paraguaçu, Maragogipe, to detail the latest advances and schedule for the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge. The project, one of Bahia's largest infrastructure investments, is expected to mobilise up to R$ 6 billion, cut ferry‑boat crossing times, improve logistics between Salvador and Itaparica Island, and spur job creation and tourism in the Recôncavo Baiano region. About 10 % of the required construction mobilisation has been completed, with the central span of the bridge now the critical focus.

Secretary of the bridge authority, Mateus Dias, clarified that works on public streets in Salvador will not begin until 2028 because they are outside the critical path. He said all necessary licences for the current phase have been issued and that project documents are publicly available on the Seponte website. Environmental and social mitigation measures for the Bay of All Saints and local communities were also discussed.
