Salvador metro introduces ticket purchases via 99 app
Passengers of the CCR Metrô Bahia system in Salvador now have a new method for purchasing tickets through the 99 mobility app via the ‘99Metrô’ feature. Salvador is the first city in Brazil to implement this functionality, which integrates metro ticketing into an existing mobility platform.
This new option complements existing payment methods, such as QR Codes, SalvadorCard, Metropasse, and various banking or transit apps. To mark the launch, the first ticket purchased through the platform is priced at R$ 0.99, and users purchasing two tickets in a single transaction receive a 50% discount. The standard legal fare for the metro is R$ 4.10, with integrated rates for urban and metropolitan buses varying between R$ 5.20 and R$ 5.90. The service is being tested in Salvador with the potential for future expansion to other Brazilian municipalities.
