Salvador Mobility Secretary's arrest warrant revoked by TRE-BA
The President of the Regional Electoral Court of Bahia (TRE-BA), Maurício Kertzman Szporer, revoked the arrest warrant for Salvador's Municipal Secretary of Mobility, Pablo Souza, on Monday. The original order, issued during the second round of elections on Sunday, was intended as an instrumental measure to compel the Municipal Mobility Secretariat (Semob) to ensure the full circulation of the city's bus fleet for voters.
Judge Szporer noted that the purpose of the arrest had been exhausted following the conclusion of voting hours. Additionally, the Secretary was abroad at the time of the order and is expected to return to Brazil to present himself spontaneously to authorities. While the arrest warrant was canceled, the investigation into potential electoral crimes continues.
The court has ordered Semob and private bus concessionaires to preserve and present operational documents within 48 hours, including driver schedules, service orders, and fleet monitoring records. The investigation aims to determine if the reduction in bus services during the election constituted an electoral crime, which could carry penalties of four to six years of imprisonment.
