Salvador new bus fleet vandalized within a week of delivery

New buses in Salvador's public transport fleet have been targeted by vandalism less than a week after being delivered to the public. Reported damages include graffiti, chewing gum placed in USB ports, and the application of electoral campaign stickers inside the vehicles.

The first batch of 700 new buses, acquired by the City Hall to renew the municipal fleet, began operating in late September and serves more than 180 neighborhoods.

Pablo Souza, the Municipal Secretary of Mobility, described the situation as “inacceptable,” noting that the damage was caused to vehicles funded by public money intended to improve citizens' lives. He emphasized that preserving the vehicles is a shared responsibility and that proper use of equipment is essential to maintaining service improvements.
