Salvador police arrest man wanted for unpaid child support

A man wanted by the justice system for failing to pay child support was arrested in the Pernambués neighborhood of Salvador. The arrest was made possible by the facial recognition system and an alert from the Technological Alerts Analysis and Qualification Center (NAQAT), which is part of the Telecommunications Superintendency (STELECOM).

Military officers from the 35th Independent Military Police Company located the suspect, who attempted to flee upon noticing the patrol. After a pursuit, he was apprehended and taken to Polinter to fulfill the arrest warrant issued by the 2nd Family Court of Salvador. The NAQAT unit, implemented approximately one month ago, aims to enhance security forces' capabilities by analyzing technological alerts and cross-referencing data to identify and locate individuals.
