A 60-year-old woman suspected of leading an IPTU tax fraud scheme was arrested at Salvador International Airport upon her return from Spain. The arrest, carried out by the Civil Police, marks the fifth detention in Operation Valor Venal.

Investigators allege the woman was one of two consultants responsible for negotiating with high-end property owners and formalizing contracts to reduce property tax values. The scheme involved altering registration data in the Salvador Municipal Finance Secretariat (Sefaz) system, such as construction years, to lower the assessed market value of properties.

Earlier in the operation, four other individuals were arrested, including two dispatchers, a consultant, and a former outsourced employee accused of executing the data changes. Additionally, a court order resulted in the suspension of four Sefaz employees.
