Salvador Pérez approaches historic catcher home run records

Kansas City Royals catcher and captain Salvador Pérez is approaching significant historical milestones in Major League Baseball. During a 3-1 victory against the Detroit Tigers at Kauffman Stadium, Pérez hit his 17th home run of the season off Drew Anderson.

This blast marks his 320th career home run, leaving him just four shy of tying Lance Parrish and Hall of Famer Gary Carter for the fifth-most home runs by a catcher in history. If he surpasses them, he would trail only Mike Piazza, Johnny Bench, Carlton Fisk, and Yogi Berra on the all-time list.

Additionally, Pérez is nearing his tenth season with at least 20 home runs, a feat that would place him alongside Piazza, Bench, Brian McCann, and Berra.
