Salvador R. Maese Barraza proposes investment facilitation plan for Mexico
Salvador R. Maese Barraza, candidate for the presidency of Index Nacional, has proposed a new work plan aimed at facilitating investment and strengthening Mexico's regional competitiveness. His ‘5+2 Plan’ focuses on regulatory simplification, new commercial facilitation schemes, and enhancing productive integration with North America.
The proposal includes analyzing special trade zones, improving logistical infrastructure, and providing greater legal and operational certainty for IMMEX companies. Maese highlighted Nuevo León as a strategic platform for these initiatives due to its high industrial concentration and proximity to the United States. In the first quarter of 2026, Nuevo León recorded $14.538 billion in exports and captured $3.712 billion in foreign direct investment during the first half of the year.
