Salvador Sobral releases new album recorded in Brazil

Portuguese musician Salvador Sobral has released a new album titled ‘A Flor do Recomeço’. The project was created and recorded in Brazil, featuring Brazilian authors, producers, and musicians, though Sobral performs the tracks using Portuguese pronunciation.

Sobral, who gained international recognition after winning the 2017 Eurovision Song Contest for Portugal, described Brazilian music as ‘the most genuine, honest, and rich in the world.’ He noted the appeal of the genre lies in its ‘simple complexity,’ specifically regarding harmonies, rhythms, and lyrical detail.

The album's inception traces back to a 2023 challenge from Brazilian journalist and producer Marcus Preto, who suggested Sobral create a record of original Brazilian music. Sobral cited lifelong influences, including Maria Bethânia and Chico César, as well as Caetano Veloso, as inspirations for this work.
