Salvador VLT expansion to Camaçari proposed by Jerônimo Rodrigues

Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues has proposed expanding the Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) system from Salvador to the municipality of Camaçari as part of his government plan. The initiative aims to strengthen urban mobility integration between Salvador and the surrounding metropolitan region through a partnership with President Lula.

The project is intended to facilitate access to services and the labor market while fostering new economic development hubs. Current VLT works in Salvador are expected to be completed by October 2027.

In addition to the VLT expansion, the governor's mobility strategy includes the expansion of the Salvador Metro, specifically the completion of Tram IV of Line 1 (Lapa Station to Campo Grande), and the construction of the Salvador-Itaparica Bridge to connect the capital with the Baixo Sul and Recôncavo Baiano regions.
