Salvador VLT reaches 100 days of operation and 300,000 passengers

The Light Rail Vehicle (VLT) in Salvador, Bahia, has completed 100 days of continuous operation, transporting more than 300,000 passengers since its inauguration. The system currently serves 13 strategic stops, including São Joaquim, Calçada, Lobato, and Ara Ketu.

Managed by the Bahia State Transport Company (CTB), the service operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 to 16:00, and on weekends from 9:00 to 12:00. The project is being implemented in stages; the initial segment between Calçada and Lobato has since been extended to Marisqueiras in Plataforma, with further expansions moving toward the central region of Salvador.

The full VLT system is projected to span 43.7 km with 50 stops. Additionally, as part of the ‘O Subúrbio é Nosso’ community program, local fishing activities have received support through the delivery of a logistics kiosk and a refrigerated vehicle to assist workers in the Lobato region.
