Dominican Republic economy grows 4.6% in July
The Dominican Republic's economy grew by 4.6% year-on-year in July 2026, according to the Monthly Economic Activity Indicator (IMAE) reported by the Central Bank. This brings the average expansion for the first seven months of the year to 4.5%.
Growth was primarily driven by the construction sector, which expanded by 8.1%, supported by private investment projects, public works, and an 18.2% increase in construction-related credit. Other key contributors included free zone manufacturing (5.5%), local manufacturing (3.7%), and the services sector (4.8%), with financial services and education showing significant growth.
In contrast, the mining sector experienced a contraction of 15.9%, largely due to reduced extraction volumes of gold and silver.
