Salvador's Axé Scene Welcomes New Bands Levada Louca and Beat Tambor

Veteran Salvador axé group Levada Louca announced a new era on 29 August, unveiling vocalist and composer Alice Moraes at a launch event in Pirambeira, Pituba. The band said it will preserve its two‑decade legacy while updating its sound with contemporary arrangements, digital outreach and refreshed choreography.

Newly formed axé outfit Beat Tambor, created by singers Layla Santiago and Nan Dantas, is set to debut on 16 August 2026 at the Varanda do SESI in Rio Vermelho, Salvador. Their program blends original material, classic axé hits and reinterpretations of MPB, pop‑rock and reggae, aiming to broaden the genre’s appeal and highlight Bahia’s cultural identity.
