Salvamont rescued 667 people during August peak season

Salvamont reported that mountain rescue teams assisted 667 people during the peak summer tourism month of August. The organization responded to approximately 542 alerts, which is 43 fewer than in August 2025.

During these operations, 185 injured individuals were transferred to hospitals via SMURD or other emergency services. Additionally, 65 people were transported by Salvamont rescue vehicles, and 25 people were moved by helicopter. While the number of rescues decreased slightly compared to the previous year, 14 fatalities were recorded in the mountains, one more than in August 2025.

Rescue teams utilized specialized equipment, including drones in 12 instances and search dogs in eight cases, to assist in difficult-to-reach locations. Salvamont continues to focus on prevention and education projects to address the rising trend of mountain accidents observed over the last 25 years.
