Salvaterra de Miño honors pediatrician Juan Luis Villalón Ríos

The municipality of Salvaterra de Miño has inaugurated a renovated children's playground named “Parque Infantil Juan Luis Villalón Ríos” to honor the memory of a highly regarded pediatrician.

Juan Luis Villalón Ríos, who passed away in September 2021 at the age of 66, served the Vigo region and Salvaterra de Miño for decades. His professional career, which began in 1979, included work at various health centers, the Hospital Xeral, and the Hospital Vithas Fátima. He maintained a medical practice in Salvaterra de Miño from the early 1980s until shortly before his death.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by the mayor, Marta Valcárcel, municipal representatives, and the family of the late doctor. The project involved a complete renovation of the playground located near the Casa de Cultura, providing a modernized space for local families while serving as a tribute to Villalón Ríos’s human quality and dedication to pediatric care.
