Salvation Army launches UK school clothing support initiatives

The Salvation Army is conducting initiatives in the UK to support families facing high costs associated with the new school year.

Aldi has launched a week-long back-to-school coat appeal in partnership with The Salvation Army and InPost UK. From August 25 to September 1, customers at more than 600 Aldi stores can donate quality children’s coats, clothing, shoes, and accessories. Donations can be dropped off at participating InPost Lockers using a free postage label generated through a registration process. Items suitable for resale will be distributed to Salvation Army stores, with profits supporting the organization’s community work.

In Gateshead, the Salvation Army’s ‘Every Child Warm’ project recently provided school uniforms, coats, and shoes to 245 children from 122 families. The project, which receives referrals from schools and food banks, aims to alleviate the financial burden of expensive outerwear and footwear. This initiative is supported by various partners, including Gateshead Council, Tesco, and the Kittiwake Trust.
