Salvatore Burrai announces retirement from professional football

Salvatore Burrai, the former Perugia midfielder, has announced his retirement from professional football. The 39-year-old Sardinian player concluded his career after twenty seasons, most recently playing for Dolomiti Bellunesi.

Burrai reflected on his career via social media, stating he has “no regrets” and expressing gratitude to his family, teammates, and fans. He noted that while the decision was difficult, he felt he had given his all on the pitch and was ready to begin a new chapter in his life.

During his time with Perugia, Burrai was a key figure in the squad following their relegation to Serie C in 2020. He contributed to the club's efforts to return to Serie B, making 61 appearances and scoring five goals during his two-year tenure in Umbria.
