Salvatore Foti disqualified until 2027 for referee misconduct
Salvatore Foti, the former assistant coach to José Mourinho at AS Roma and Fenerbahçe, has received a lengthy sporting disqualification. The ruling, issued by the sporting judge, bans Foti from football activities until February 5, 2027.
The disciplinary action follows an incident during a recent match involving his current club, Acireale, in the Sicilian Eccellenza league. Foti was cited for “offensive and threatening behavior toward the referee” following a moment of tension during the game against Giarre.
This follows a previous disciplinary issue during the last season while at Sampdoria, where Foti received a ten-match ban for performing head coaching duties in Serie B without the required UEFA Pro qualification. Acireale is expected to file an appeal to seek a reduction of the current suspension.
