Italdesign Giugiaro majority ownership transfers to US firm UST
Italdesign Giugiaro has officially transferred its majority ownership to UST, a US-based company specializing in artificial intelligence, technology, and digital engineering. Volkswagen will retain a 40% stake in the historic automotive design firm through Automobile Lamborghini and will continue as a partner on ongoing projects.
CEO Antonio Casu emphasized that the move is a long-term strategic alliance rather than a simple sale. The company will maintain its headquarters in Moncalieri, near Turin, and its existing management team, staff, and current projects will remain unchanged. Italdesign, founded in 1968, employs 1,300 people and operates across automotive, aerospace, robotics, and industrial design sectors.
