Salwa Maloof Habib named Queen of the 2027 Barranquilla Carnival

Salwa Maloof Habib, a 24-year-old International Relations professional, has been named the Queen of the 2027 Barranquilla Carnival. The announcement was made by Katia Nule, the First Lady of Barranquilla, who personally delivered the news to Maloof's home.

Maloof holds a degree from IE University in Spain and is proficient in Spanish, English, and French. She currently serves as the director of the Clínica Internacional La Misericordia and is the CEO of the Fulamic Foundation, through which she has supported vulnerable children and families since 2016.

With a deep connection to local folklore, she is a member of the cumbiamba La Misma Vaina. Her family has a strong tradition within the carnival festivities; her sister, Samia, served as the Queen of the Children's Carnival in 2024.
